How much does Inspectlet cost per recording?
Inspectlet costs about $3.90 per 1,000 replays on Micro, $3.16 on Startup, $2.98 on Growth, $2.39 on Accelerate and $2.00 on the first Enterprise tier, at monthly prices. The 500,000 replay tier at $749 works out to $1.50 per 1,000. Annual billing lowers each of those by 15 percent.
That is cheap for plain recordings. The catch is not the per recording rate but the features and storage that sit on higher plans.
Does Inspectlet have a free plan?
Yes. The free plan covers up to 3 websites with session replay, heatmaps and A/B testing, a limited number of AI insights a day and one month of storage. It has no funnels, no form analytics and no recording downloads. It works for a small site that checks recordings now and then. A store with real traffic hits the monthly cap quickly, and recording stops until the cycle resets.
Where Inspectlet plans force an upgrade
- Form analytics. Field level form reports start at Growth, $149 a month. Moving from Startup at $79 costs another $70 a month, even if volume is unchanged.
- Storage. Micro keeps recordings 2 months and Startup 3. Reviewing last quarter's checkout sessions before a redesign needs Growth at 6 months or Accelerate at 12.
- API and targeting. Both arrive at Growth. Phone support arrives at Accelerate, $299 a month.
- Recording downloads. Saving individual recordings starts at Startup.
- Hitting the limit. When a plan runs out of replays, Inspectlet stops recording new sessions until the next billing cycle or an upgrade, so a traffic spike can blank your data.
Is Inspectlet worth the price?
For a small site that wants recordings, heatmaps and A/B tests in one cheap tool, Inspectlet is good value, and Micro at $39 a month is cheaper than most competitors' first plan. It is less convincing when the real job is fixing a leaking signup or checkout, because that needs form data and someone with time to watch recordings, and both sit on the more expensive plans or in your own hours.
What the same traffic costs with a flat plan
UserExplorer is priced per plan. The first plan covers 10,000 sessions at $99 a month or $49 billed yearly. The next covers 100,000 sessions at $499 a month or $249 billed yearly, with surveys and profiles. The next covers 500,000 sessions at $1,499 monthly or $749 yearly with API access. Replay, heatmaps, funnels and field level form analytics are in every plan, and an AI researcher reads the recordings and reports why visitors drop off with the replays that prove it.
On sticker price Inspectlet is cheaper at low volume, and it includes A/B testing, which UserExplorer does not. The case for UserExplorer is that form analytics do not sit behind a $149 tier and the analysis is written for you. If a shop spots abandonment at checkout in the recordings, a tool such as abandoned cart recovery that emails shoppers who left at checkout can then win some of those buyers back.
